I just got three Japanese books in the mail today. Woot! I'm going to try to be diligent in studying them. Comments about them will pop up here lots (hopefully) particularly on the short stories presumably. So, let's go ahead and get the books out there:

1. Building Word Power in Japanese: Using Kanji Prefixes and Suffixes...
          ...by Timothy J. Vance

2. Read Real Japanese: Short Stories by Contemporary Writers...
         ...edited by Michael Emmerich

3. Crazy for Kanji: A Student's Guide to the Wonderful World of Japanese Characters...
         ...by Eve  Kushner

The 1st I'm hoping will improve my vocabulary, the 2nd my reading ability, and the 3rd is meant to be used as a motivation tool. I expect it will have little use as an actual study tool, but may prove worth what I paid for it if it will only motivate me to study kanji more often and more in depth. It's not that I don't like kanji, on the contrary, I think they're awesome, but years of Japanese study have left me frustrated.
